Commissioned by the University of Oregon, for the architecture school in Eugene, Cornerstone features an angled glass sculpture atop a Douglas fir slab. In memory of the first Black graduate of the program, Professor DeNorval Unthank, Jr., glass is etched with his architectural drawings. An internal glass case contains items and tools from his working life, selected by his family. In his 17-year career, this AIA Fellow received 30 awards and designed buildings across the city.
